A wonderfully whimsical piece of vintage Maine history—and one of our favorite ways to personalize a summer bag.
This colorful molded-plastic Maine lobster brooch dates to the 1950s and features a dimensional bright red lobster with black detailing, tiny black eyes, and raised gold MAINE lettering.
Originally created as a mid-century Maine souvenir, we especially love these vintage lobster pins styled today on a favorite canvas tote, beach bag or boat bag. Mix one among collected vintage pins and charms, as shown in our photographs, or let the brilliant red lobster stand alone against classic navy, natural canvas or denim.
Of course, it can still be worn traditionally as a brooch on a favorite summer sweater, linen jacket or blazer for cool evenings along the coast.
A charming piece for collectors of vintage Maine memorabilia, mid-century souvenir jewelry and all things lobster.
This is the last one currently available from our collection.

HISTORY & FACTS
Produced during the 1950s by Maine’s Department of Sea & Shore Fisheries in Augusta, this wonderfully playful lobster is a piece of mid-century Maine souvenir history.
Souvenir jewelry became an especially popular way for travelers to bring home a wearable reminder of the places they visited. With its vivid red coloring, dimensional molded construction and unmistakable lobster form, this example celebrates an icon closely associated with Maine’s coastal identity.
Today, pieces like this have an appeal beyond traditional jewelry. They are little pieces of vintage Americana and Maine ephemera that capture the color, humor and nostalgia of mid-century summers along the coast.
CONDITION
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of previous use. Minor surface wear, finish variation and small imperfections are consistent with a vintage piece dating to the 1950s and contribute to its character.
Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
