Before wristwatches became commonplace in the early twentieth century, pocket watches were secured with decorative watch chains designed to be worn across a waistcoat. These chains were both practical and highly personal, often incorporating Albert clips, T-bars, fobs, seals, sliders, and other keepsakes chosen to reflect the interests and identity of their owner.
Watch fobs could be decorative, sentimental, or functional, and many were engraved with initials, family crests, or personal symbols. The unengraved fob incorporated into this necklace retains its original undecorated surface, giving its next owner the opportunity to appreciate it exactly as it has survived or personalize the piece in the future.
Rock crystal has been used in jewelry for centuries and was especially prized during the Victorian era for its remarkable clarity and ability to catch the light. Spinner pendants were designed to move within their settings, adding dimension and visual interest while showcasing the material from multiple angles.

CARE & MAINTENANCE:
We recommend occasional cleaning of the gold-filled components with warm water, a small drop of mild dish soap—Blue Dawn is our preferred choice—and a soft-bristle toothbrush. Rinse carefully and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Take additional care around the antique rock crystal spinner and its setting. Avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, prolonged soaking, and sudden temperature changes. The crystal may be gently wiped with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dried thoroughly.
Gold-filled jewelry may naturally develop a soft patina, particularly when it is not worn regularly. If desired, gently restore its shine with a jewelry polishing cloth or a small amount of Simichrome or Wenol applied carefully with a soft cotton cloth, avoiding the rock crystal.
