Over the many years, she intentionally sourced antique watch chains from collections around the world, always hoping to discover a piece worthy of pairing with it. Then, in one of those rare moments every collector dreams about, she unexpectedly discovered a second chain so remarkably similar it could be described as an exact match. She has not encountered another like it since.

Each Vintage Luxe Designed necklace is created using authentic antique and vintage watch chain components that have developed a unique patina over more than a century. This natural surface is part of the character, history, and authenticity of the piece and is not considered a flaw.
Like sterling silver and other precious metals, antique gold-filled jewelry continues to respond to its environment. Humidity, temperature, exposure to moisture, skin chemistry, cosmetics, and everyday wear may gradually deepen or brighten the patina over time. This natural evolution is part of the beauty of owning an authentic antique and makes each piece uniquely yours.
If desired, the finish may be gently brightened with careful polishing; however, many collectors choose to preserve the original patina as a testament to the necklace’s history and age.

Before wristwatches became commonplace in the early twentieth century, gentlemen carried pocket watches secured by decorative watch chains, often referred to as fobs or Albert chains. Worn across a waistcoat, these chains frequently featured T-bars, dog clips, sliders, seals, charms, and personal keepsakes that reflected the owner’s interests, travels, and personal style.
Today, authentic Victorian watch chains and their original components are admired as collectible examples of fine craftsmanship. By thoughtfully reimagining these historic elements into a one-of-a-kind necklace, Melissa preserves their history while giving them a new purpose—designed to be worn, layered, and enjoyed for generations to come.
CARE & MAINTENANCE:
We recommend occasional cleaning with warm water, a small drop of mild dish soap (Blue Dawn is our preferred choice), and a soft-bristle toothbrush. Rinse carefully and dry thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Mother-of-pearl is a natural material and should be treated with special care. Avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, jewelry dips, abrasive cleaners, perfumes, hairspray, and prolonged exposure to moisture. Clean the mother-of-pearl gently using a soft, damp microfiber cloth, taking care not to scratch its surface. Its natural iridescence is part of its beauty and requires only gentle care to maintain its luster.
Gold-filled jewelry may naturally develop a soft patina, particularly when it is not worn regularly. If desired, gently restore its shine with a jewelry polishing cloth or a small amount of Simichrome or Wenol applied to a soft cotton cloth. Avoid polishing compounds on the mother-of-pearl, as they may dull or scratch its surface.
