A wonderful piece of genuine Victorian equestrian jewelry, this antique horse head fob and seal combines beautifully detailed gold-filled metalwork with a richly colored tiger’s-eye stone.
The sculptural horse head is remarkably detailed, from the finely worked mane and expressive features to the bridle and bit that sweep across the front of the piece. Beneath the horse sits an oval tiger’s-eye seal, bringing warm bands of honey, amber and deep brown to the gold-toned setting.
Originally created as a fob and seal, today we love it worn as an extraordinary charm or pendant. Add it to a favorite chain, wear it from a charm holder, or incorporate it into a collected necklace alongside other antique and vintage pieces.
For the equestrian, it is particularly special—a piece of Victorian horse jewelry with history, character and enough presence to be worn beautifully on its own.
Unlike modern equestrian jewelry inspired by the past, this is the real thing: an authentic Victorian-era piece created more than a century ago.

HISTORY & INSPIRATION
Fobs and seals were both practical and decorative accessories during the Georgian and Victorian eras. Often suspended from watch chains, guard chains or chatelaines, seals could be carved in hardstones and used to impress a personal emblem, monogram or device into sealing wax.
By the Victorian period, these useful objects had also become highly decorative expressions of identity, interests and sentiment.
Equestrian motifs were especially appropriate to the period, when horses occupied an important place in transportation, sport, country life and society. This wonderfully dimensional horse head captures that world in miniature.
Today, antique fobs and seals have found a new life as pendants and charms. We especially love them mixed with contemporary chains and other antique pieces—the kind of jewelry collection that looks as though it has been assembled slowly over generations.
