Antique c. 1860 14K Gold Coral Bead Brooch with Drop
A striking antique coral brooch dating to approximately 1860, from our Estate Jewelry collection, featuring beautifully graduated coral beads arranged around a substantial central cabochon and finished with an elegant suspended coral drop.
The composition has a wonderful sculptural quality, with a large polished coral center surrounded by smaller rounded coral beads in a floral or sunburst arrangement. A long teardrop-shaped coral pendant moves freely beneath the brooch, adding graceful movement and an unusual sense of scale.
The coral displays beautiful natural variation in its warm orange-red coloration, with subtle tonal differences and surface characteristics that give the piece the individuality associated with antique natural materials.
The reverse reveals a simple 14K gold circular framework designed to allow the coral to remain the visual focus, together with a traditional pin fitting consistent with the character and construction of an antique jewel.
Dating to approximately 1860, this is an especially compelling example of 19th-century coral jewelry and a distinctive addition to a curated collection of antique and Estate Jewelry.
