Antique African Milk Jug, Kenya

Regular price $295.00 Sale

Antique African Milk Jug, Kenya Carved from a single block of wood by pastoral tribes, who relied on cows for meat and milk. The daily practice of milking was preceded with singing and dancing, along with the milkers holding the wooden pails in front with outstretched arms, whistling to calm the cows.

Tin was used to repair cracks that developed in the wood over time. These repairs were artfully executed similar to the tradition of wabi sabi.
