Before wristwatches became commonplace in the early twentieth century, gentlemen carried pocket watches secured by decorative watch chains, often referred to as fobs or Albert chains. Worn across a waistcoat, these chains frequently featured T-bars, dog clips, sliders, seals, charms, and personal keepsakes that reflected the owner’s interests, travels, and personal style.
Today, authentic Victorian watch chains and their original components are admired as collectible examples of fine craftsmanship. By thoughtfully reimagining these historic elements into a one-of-a-kind necklace, Melissa preserves their history while giving them a new purpose—designed to be worn, layered, and enjoyed for generations to come.
CARE & MAINTENANCE:
We recommend occasional cleaning with warm water, a small drop of mild dish soap—Blue Dawn is our preferred choice—and a soft-bristle toothbrush. Rinse carefully and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Gold-filled jewelry may naturally develop a soft patina, particularly when it is not worn regularly. If desired, gently restore its shine with a jewelry polishing cloth or a small amount of Simichrome or Wenol applied with a soft cotton cloth.
