Facts & History: The French origin of the word, pronounced correctly as CASH-PO (silent T), means to literally hide a pot, and that’s because these decorative vessels were originally used in the 19th-century to conceal a less attractive flower pot. The word cachepot is French from the verb “cacher”, meaning "to hide". Today, cachepots come in all sizes and are still primarily used for plants, although we love to use them for storage and organizing too!
