Vintage Lang Sterling Silver Lobster Brooch | Mid-Century Nautical Jewelry

Regular price $95.00 Sale

A wonderfully detailed vintage sterling silver lobster brooch by Lang, capturing one of the most recognizable symbols of coastal New England.

Sculptural and dimensional, the lobster is beautifully rendered from its raised claws and delicate antennae to the articulated-looking details of its body and tail. The naturally developed patina settles into the recessed areas, emphasizing the workmanship and giving the piece the character we love in vintage sterling silver.

A quintessential piece of New England jewelry, it feels especially at home worn on a favorite summer sweater or linen jacket for cool evenings by the water. We also love it pinned to a clutch, canvas boat tote, or favorite beach bag.

Selected for its unmistakable Maine sensibility, this is the kind of vintage piece that feels playful while remaining classic enough to wear year after year.

HISTORY & FACTS

Figural sterling silver jewelry became especially popular during the mid-20th century, with motifs drawn from nature, travel, and regional life. Nautical pieces have remained particularly collectible in New England, where lobsters, shells, fish, anchors, and other maritime motifs have long been associated with summers along the coast.

The maker’s Lang signature adds another layer of interest to this example and distinguishes it from the many unmarked sterling lobster brooches found on the vintage market.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Vintage sterling silver naturally develops patina over time. We consider this part of the character and history of the piece and do not aggressively polish our vintage silver.

If desired, gently polish raised areas with a soft silver-polishing cloth, taking care around recessed details. Avoid chemical dips, abrasive cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture.

PACKAGING

Your brooch will arrive ready to gift in a Luxe Curations signature blue velvet jewelry bag.

PLEASE NOTE

As with all vintage and antique jewelry, minor signs of age and previous wear are expected and are part of the piece’s history. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.

Due to the nature of vintage and antique jewelry, all jewelry sales are final.
