Authentic Vintage Bamileke, Cameroon Grassfields Low Round Stool Cameroon Grassfields stool (northwestern Cameroon), made of light-colored medium tone, hard wood. hand-carved from a single piece. Features round seat with a single central support and 6 arched supports. The outer borders of the seat are decorated with hatching style shapes reminiscent of feathers in relief.
It's small size lends itself to become a display stand or Objet D'Art.
Beautiful patina and developed character from age and use: minor cracks in wood due consistent with age of wood and changes in temperatures and humidity in different climates. It is very rare to find Bamileke stool from Cameroon,

The Bamileke people are known for their very striking and often intricately beaded masquerade art, including the impressive elephant mask. Bamileke art relates to kings and important chiefs, who defined their power by the display of prestige objects during important ceremonies.
The Bamileke people are also known for being very wealthy people. They hold the economic power in Cameroon. Many Bamileke are entrepreneurs.
