These are a few of our favorite things. Add a base layer of beautiful winter greens, luxurious silk velvet ribbons and sparkly baubles to your Curated Collections and it’s a Luxe Holiday.
Having lived in Philadelphia and New York City for many years, space is THE luxury we have always been short on. And so holiday decorations, while exuberant and festive, are made by using our cherished pieces. First natural greens are added in abundance, layered with our year-round faux florals, mixed with coral and seashells. We pull out our crystal and silver collection and accent with gorgeous velvet ribbon and a cherished ornaments.
Necessity may be the mother of invention but even when we bought our huge home in Kennebunkport my holiday decorating style didn’t change. Of course I made the trek to the Christmas tree store, Target etc. but the heaps of plastic and fake glitter did nothing for me. That first year I sourced from the woods in our backyard and our local Garden Center. Then over the years I selectively added more silver and crystal. The ribbons and baubles are brought out and lovingly reused every season.
After my mother passed away, I realized this was how she too decorated. Using the woods that surrounded our home, natural greens were swagged in abundance! Now I have her cherished ornaments and silver and crystal collection. Bringing them out makes me close to her again.
