This piece has a minute chip5/16”x 5/16” in the glaze on its lowest front right corner at the base.
FACTS & HISTORY: Qing dynasty or Chinese Republic ceramic parrots are most often made in a common depiction like this one perched on an open rocky base. Porcelain parrots were produced for the domestic and export markets and sometimes sold in pairs leading some to believe they, like pairs of fish, symbolized the love and fidelity of married couples.In Feng Shui, parrots are said to draw positive energy, repel negative energy, symbolize opportunity are the bearers of good news and they, like other birds, represent freedom, long life and the wisdom that comes with old age.
